SEC Football was once again extremely exciting. Now that it is all over, what superlative does each team receive as we look forward to the 2019 season?

The 2018 season saw Alabama play for yet another championship, over half of the conference compete in bowl games and a few teams slip through the cracks of mediocrity. Now that we sit on the opposite side of that season, all we can do is look forward to 2019 starting with some way-too-early superlatives.

Vanderbilt Commodores: Most likely to be forgotten.

I honestly hope I am wrong with this one, though I don’t see myself regretting this statement. How many of you honestly remember Vanderbilt when you make a list in your head of teams that make up the Southeastern Conference? I sure don’t and that is simply because this team has yet to do anything in much of any sport to be remembered.

For teams like Kentucky, before this strong season, they were remembered for their dominance in other sports. Vanderbilt has nothing but good grades. Sometimes they are good at baseball, as they sit atop many preseason rankings heading into that season, but in terms of football, they’ve got just about nothing.

They barely managed six wins this season, only to suffer a heartbreaking loss to Baylor in the Texas Bowl. Maybe it’s time to move on from Derek Mason. Maybe it’s time to learn how to recruit on a higher level. Maybe it’s time to play an entire season or an entire game for that matter. Whatever it is, until something changes, Vanderbilt earns the “Most Likely to be Forgotten” award as teams begin to focus on their 2019 campaigns.
