Ole Miss Rebels: Most likely to get excited by literally any bowl game.

If anyone hasn’t heard by now, Ole Miss has been without post season play for two seasons now due to a ban by the NCAA. They wouldn’t have earned one in 2018 as they only put five wins, but in 2017 they were just on the edge sitting at 6-6. With their self-imposed bowl ban though, it didn’t matter one bit how they ended up, they weren’t going anywhere.

I went back and forth on the Rebels, or Land Sharks, a lot. I could have mentioned how much they will miss AJ Brown, one of the best players to ever wear an Ole Miss uniform. I could have mentioned how they have finally learned to recruit, hopefully, without the help of less than desirable tactics.  Why not make a joke of their need to change mascots every five seconds? I could have mentioned how Jordan Ta’amu will be missed quite a bit, but I didn’t. I went with the fact that after two years of not having a bowl game, they’ll be excited for just about anything.

Do I think this team is going to get into a big time, meaningful bowl in 2019? Absolutely not. They will, however, finish with at least six wins and find their way into some kind of bowl game and their fans will be ecstatic about it. The team? I’m sure they will be excited as well.
