player. 30. . DT. Alabama. Quinnen Williams. 3

The Jets will be hoping to improve their pass rush this offseason, and while the top two edge rushers are off the board in this scenario, Alabama’s Quinnen Williams has the potential to be a disruptive pass rusher from the middle in the pros.

Williams burst onto the scene as a redshirt sophomore in 2018, filling the void left by first round pick Da’Ron Payne. Williams elevated the play in the middle and was arguably the best defensive player in college football this season.

He helped mask some obvious defensive deficiencies for the Crimson Tide that were evident in the National Championship loss to Clemson. Williams produced 19.5 tackles-for-loss and eight sacks despite being the main focal point of defensive gameplans and facing constant double-teams.

Williams could be that interior pass rusher akin to Aaron Donald or Fletcher Cox at the next level, and should immediately improve the NFL’s 26th ranked run defense.

The Jets might also target some improvements for their offensive line to protect Sam Darnold. They’re also in desperate need of some offensive weapons to surround him with, but there isn’t a player available here that wouldn’t constitute a massive reach.

That could put the Jets in position to also explore trade-down scenarios in order to hoard some more draft capital and potentially fill a position of need with a bit of a later pick. If they stand pat, look for them to take the best player available and at this point that is unequivocally Quinnen Williams.
