3. The Upset of Georgia

No one gave LSU the time of day to win this game. Everyone was sure that Georgia was a shoe-in for the College Football Playoff and that they would go undefeated, one better than they did a season ago. However, last season it was Auburn that upset Georgia and put them on a crash course with being a make or break Playoff team. This year it was LSU and man it wasn’t even close.

The Tigers ran past the Bulldogs, 36-16. At this point, LSU sat at No. 13 and Georgia was the No. 2 team in the nation behind Alabama. They were still considered one of the best teams in the nation, but LSU changed that in a hurry. Joe Burrow passed for 200 yards and had two short touchdown runs in the game. Running back Nick Brosette also added a touchdown in the final minutes to put this one on ice.

If the other three games we talked about gave LSU bursts of confidence, this one was a big-time belief in themselves that would carry them throughout the rest of the season.
