3. Henry To’oto’o (OLB/Concord, CA) — 4 Stars

Alabama has long looked like the leader for four-star outside linebacker Henry To’oto’o, but the recent staff turnover, particularly with the loss of their best West Coast recruiter in Tosh Lupoi, could be hurting the Crimson Tide as they head down the stretch.

To’oto’o has long been one of Alabama’s top targets, and while there may not be an immediate need at the position in 2019, the need for increased depth at outside linebacker will be prevalent after next season will see some key departures.

To’oto’o took an official visit to Tennessee a couple of weeks ago, and since his visit the Vols have begun trending in the Crystal Ball, although Alabama remains in the lead. Take that for what it is worth. Saban recently plucked Tennessee assistant coach Charles Kelly to join his staff in Tuscaloosa, too.

To’oto’o is expected to be in Tuscaloosa this weekend where Saban will try and ease his mind on the coaching turnover to secure his signature.

It has seemed like a two-horse race between Alabama and Tennessee for a while now, but don’t discount Oregon and Washington for his signature either.

Oregon, in particular, is making a strong late push for the California product. Mario Cristobal is a strong recruiter and could pitch the idea of To’oto’o staying a little bit closer to home as the Ducks seem to be on the upswing both on the recruiting trail and the gridiron. Oregon secured To’oto’o’s final official visit, expecting to host him the weekend before signing day.

To’oto’o seemed like an Alabama lock for a while, but a lot has changed since the early signing period. The Tide should still be viewed as the favorite, but it is far from a slam dunk at this point.
