Old Dominion’s Oshane Ximines is one of the most intriguing prospects to watch this week at the Senior Bowl. Coming from such a small school, Ximines flew under the radar for the majority of his career in college, but he is firmly on the radar of scouts and draft pundits at this point.

Mel Kiper Jr. has Ximines as his No. 19 prospect on his latest big board, and Todd McShay has him among his Top 10 edge rush prospects on his, meaning he looks like a lock for a Top 60 selection at this point. A big week in Mobile might clinch his spot in the first round.

Ximines is raw, but he still produced at a high level for the Monarchs. He racked up 11.5 sacks and 18 tackles-for-loss as a senior. His most impressive tape of the season came in Old Dominion’s shocking win over Virginia Tech in September. He had seven tackles and two sacks against the Hokies, flying around the ball throughout the evening and wrecking havoc in the backfield.

Ximines is likely to fit the best as a 3-4 outside linebacker, which could limit his suitors at the next level. If he has to play outside ‘backer, he’ll need a lot of work in coverage as he will be asked to do that from time-to-time. He was utilized as nothing much outside of a pass rusher in college, but the tools are there for him to develop with competent NFL coaching.

Ximines will play on the North team this week, and head coach Jon Gruden will be on the lookout for edge rushing talent. The Raiders finished dead last in the NFL by a wide-margin in the regular season in sacks, so Ximines could be in play late in the first round for Gruden if he walks away impressed with the Old Dominion product.

If Ximines struggles, however, he could fall toward the end of the second day or even early third day of the draft.
