4. Those They Can Steal

I know that I just made a big deal about keeping the guys you got, but you got to go out and get the guys that everybody else has too. Even though several players are committed to joining other schools, Florida State’s name remains on recruiting websites as a possible destination for some top of the line recruits.

For starters, I would like to bring up quarterback John Rhys Plumlee. Plumlee currently holds a commitment to Georgia but could be looking for a change in scenery after the Bulldogs after being asked to “Blueshirt” over the summer. Plumlee is listed as an athlete but plans to play quarterback and show off his impeccable dual-threat abilities. 247Sports’ crystal ball is pointing towards Ole Miss but Florida State remains in contention for the Oak Grove Product.

Another name I’ve seen around is Mississippi State commit Darius Washington. Washington committed to Mississippi State in June of last year but the Noles sent out new offers in the last week with Washington’s coming recently. He has a friend in FSU receiver Keyshawn Helton and holds one last official visit before signing day. Given that he’s an in-state player, the Noles have a great chance of securing a visit and securing a signature if they can play their cards right.

Building a successful program requires bringing in better and better players. Stealing Plumlee and Washington on signing day could up the Florida State recruiting class and give Taggart positive momentum heading into the Spring.
