The Nittany Lions are experiencing some turnover at the wide receiver position this offseason. In addition to losing DeAndre Thompkins to graduation, Juwan Johnson and Brandon Polk announced their intentions to transfer. This leaves a lot of young receivers with freshman KJ Hamler with the most experience. The Lions could use more depth here and T.J. Jones can provide it.

The six-foot-one wide is out of Lake City, Florida where he attended Columbia High School. Per 247Sports, he is a three-star recruit and ranks as the 74th-best receiver in the country. His senior year, he hauled in 42 receptions for 833 yards and scored eight touchdowns.

The addition of Ja’Juan Seider to the Penn State staff has been a real boon for James Franklin. He’s an excellent recruiter and with his ties to Florida, has been able to lure Sunshine State talent up north to Happy Valley. Convincing young football players to leave the warmth of Florida for the cold north is no easy task. The Lions already have two Florida kids in the class and are looking for more.

Jones right now appears leaning towards committing with the Lions, but they will have to fend off a couple of other schools. Big Ten East foe Indiana is in the mix along with Texas A&M. The Lions will look to seal the deal when Jones visits State College before Signing Day.
