Big Ten Football: Top 10 recruits joining the conference in 2019
As I alluded too earlier in this article, Jim Harbaugh has a knack for bringing in defensive playmakers since he’s arrived in Ann Arbor in 2015, especially on the defensive line. This past year was a great example with Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich leading the charge up front for the Wolverines. The previous year it was Maurice Hurst who was a disruptive force in the middle, this next prospect is from the same mold as Hurst and Chris Hinton has a chance to be just as good.
Hinton is a 6-foot-4, 280 pound defensive monster from Norcross, Georgia and terrorized opponents for four years at Greater Atlanta Christian School. Hinton played in a 3-4 scheme, so it might take a little bit of adjusting to play in Harbaugh’s attacking 4-3 scheme at Michigan. However, Hinton has a chance to make some noise as a freshman as the Wolverines lost a lot of their defensive line talent from the 2018 squad.
On film, Hinton’s most impressive trait is his quickness, he has a fantastic jump off the snap of the ball and does all of his moves with quickness, swim move, rip move, etc. Hinton also has a great motor and repeatedly makes tackles 10, 15, and occasionally 20 yards downfield. Because of this, however, Hinton will have to be ready to face offensive linemen quicker than him in college and build up his strength. But make no mistake, he has worlds of potential.
