4. Jared Harrison-Hunte, Defensive Tackle

247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 572 National, No. 41 Defensive Tackle, No. 4 Recruit in New York

The crystal ball seems to favor Miami over Penn State in the final week before National Signing Day for the Jared Harrison-Hunte sweepstakes. The Hurricanes lose productive talent along the interior defensive line in Gerald Willis III and Tito Odenigbo and must bring in players to replace them as well as Pat Bethel after he graduates next season. All three mentioned were productive run-stoppers in 2018 with Willis leading the Hurricanes and finishing No. 17 nationally in Tackles for loss.

The Canes already have Jason Blissett and Jalar Holley signed on for the next several seasons to play defensive tackle. It would make sense that the Hurricanes would go after multiple defensive tackles considering the number of guys they will have lost by the end of the 2019 season.

Harrison-Hunte hails from the great state of New York from Christ the King High School. In his senior season, he accounted for 45 total tackles, all of which were unassisted and he averaged over five tackles per game. In his Junior season, he caught 23 passes for 227 yards which only shows off his incredible athleticism. On top of being able to tear through lines to stop the run, he has a large enough reach to block pass attempts while trying to escape a block.

The Canes are trying to get off on the right foot under new coach Manny Diaz and they can do that by securing the signature from the New York defensive tackle on National Signing Day.
