3. Christian Williams, Cornerback

247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 161 Nationally, No. 20 Cornerback, No. 7 Recruit in Alabama

Four-Star Cornerback Christian Williams is currently favored to join the Alabama Crimson Tide on National Signing Day but an article from 247Sports stated that the Miami Hurricanes were more worried about LSU than they were from Williams’ in-state favorite. It’s not apparent knowledge why Williams is straying away from his once strong verbal-pledge to Alabama, but one can assume that Alabama’s haul of three defensive backs in the Early Signing Period could have played a factor.

A few things that one could pick up from watching Williams’ tape is that, for one, he’s fast. Daphne High School used him as a pass rusher, kick returner, and a wide receiver. His best plays on offense are screen passes when he has space to get going. He’s fast enough to stay stuck to top-level receivers and can play corner or safety. He also played basketball and baseball to build upon his athletic abilities. Another trait of his to mention is his 6-foot-1 stature that keeps him competitive in 50-50 balls against taller receivers.

Williams is likely heading to LSU but if Miami can bring him in alongside Safety Keontra Smith, the losses of Michael Jackson and Jaquan Johnson won’t be as dreadful.
