Jamel Starks is considered the No. 23 athlete in college football and plays running back and defensive back. He played plenty of slot corner while attending Southwest DeKalb in Decatur, Ga., and many believe him to be a good fit in what Scott Frost and Eric Chinander want to do on the defensive side of the ball.

The curious thing about Stark’s recruitment is that he has been in much contact with Sean Beckton who currently serves as the tight ends coach at Nebraska.

As far as defensive backs go, Nebraska has signed four defensive backs already in this class and could be looking to add more bodies to a secondary that is far from perfect.

Offensively, the Huskers have Maurice Washington returning and have signed JUCO transfer Dedrick Mills and top all-purpose back Wandale Robinson. Although there is no set position that he would enter in at (most believe defensive back), he is athletic enough to make an impact somewhere on this roster and seems to have some interest in Nebraska.

Starks has shown interest in Louisville, NC State, West Virginia and Colorado State in the past month along with Nebraska.

Although he has shown interest in Nebraska, the change in coach at Louisville to Scott Satterfield should provide a spike in the Cardinals recruiting on National Signing Day. Nebraska could use the additional defensive backs as they look to contend for a Big Ten West title in 2019.
