A need that Nebraska had to address this offseason was a pass rusher. The Cornhuskers needed to bring in someone that could put pressure on a quarterback and up Nebraska’s sack numbers from where they were in 2018. They’ve addressed the strong-side with four-star defensive end Ty Robinson but could upgrade the other side of the line with a player like Steven Parker

Parker played standing or grounded for South Oak Cliff High School and played incredibly as a pass rusher. During his senior season, Parker amassed 20 sacks in 10 games with 100 total tackles coming off the line. Of those 100 tackles, 36 were behind the line of scrimmage.

Nebraska’s defense was their Achilles’ heel last season and had they been able to make a few key stops against Ohio State, Colorado or Troy then they make a bowl game.

Although initially committed to Texas Tech, Parker de-committed after the firing of Kliff Kingsbury and reopened his recruitment. Nebraska is a finalist alongside UCLA and Kansas, of all places. This would be a huge pickup for Scott Frost with Parker currently ranked as a four-star which would bump Nebraska even further into the top 20 recruiting classes.
