UCLA’s rebuild under Chip Kelly actually came at the right time given that they have so much youth around their roster. The front seven is comprised of four underclassmen with the other three playing in their junior year. The three starting members in the 3-4 defensive scheme of UCLA are all sophomores or younger and despite their experience, a younger newcomer could come in and take over starting duties for the Bruins.

Steven Parker is one of three four-stars that I will mention on this list and the only one on the defensive side of the ball. Parker played standing or grounded for South Oak Cliff High in Dallas and played incredibly as a pass rusher.

In his senior season, Parker amassed 20 sacks in 10 games with 100 total tackles coming off the line. Of those 100 tackles, 36 were behind the line of scrimmage.

Although initially committed to Texas Tech, Parker de-committed after the firing of Kliff Kingsbury and reopened his recruitment. UCLA is a finalist alongside Nebraska and Kansas, of all places. This would be a huge pickup for Chip Kelly with Parker currently ranked as a four-star, giving the veteran coach his second commitment from a four or five-star player this offseason.
