1. Jaquaze Sorrells

As the 14th ranked defensive tackle in 247Sports 2019 rankings, Jaquaze Sorrells could immediately impact South Carolina’s defensive front. In 2018, South Carolina allowed 195 yards per game ranking them 95th in the country. The defense also failed to consistently pressure opposing quarterback, clocking in at 73rd in sacks per game.

Those stats could improve in 2019 now that Muschamp has inked the top-rated 2019 defensive tackle in Zacch Pickens. Adding the 6-2, 310-pound Sorrells would provide depth and exciting potential for the Gamecocks’ defense in the years to come.

South Carolina appears to be Sorrells’ favorite heading into National Signing Day, but as seems to be the case with every remaining undecided elite player, Alabama is sniffing around. Sorrells visited South Carolina on Jan. 19, but has since visited Penn State and Alabama – with the visit to the latter occurring on Feb. 1. Despite his visit to Alabama, however, Sorrells remains a likely South Carolina commit.

If Muschamp can land the Under Armour All-American, South Carolina would immediately improve a defensive that needs to be stingier in 2019 if South Carolina intends on competing for an SEC East title.
