NFL Draft: Top 25 prospects from the Big 12
Cody Ford is one of the most complete offensive linemen in the 2019 draft. Ford has the unique combination of size and athleticism necessary to become a real star in the NFL. The 6-foot-4, 338-pound lineman graded well in the passing game, allowing only six quarterback pressures in 2018 according to Pro Football Focus.
Depending on the need of the team who selects him, Ford can be slotted as either a guard or tackle, though he played primarily tackle at Oklahoma. The Ringer says of Ford that he’s “(b)uilt like a refrigerator but moves with surprising ease; has the versatility to play guard or tackle at the next level.” Versatility may not be his greatest attribute, but only because of his superior talent.
Of slight concern is his small sample size as a starter – only one full season – and a broken fibula during his sophomore campaign. Neither seem to be hurting his draft stock, though, as it’s likely that the first offensive lineman selected will either be Ford or Alabama’s Jonah Williams, and that’s expected to come in the early-half of the first round.
Cody Ford is set up to have an impressive combine which could help him secure the title of best offensive lineman in this year’s draft.
