NFL Draft: Top 25 prospects from the Big 12
Jordan Brailford finished the 2018 season – his junior year – with impressive statistical accomplishments: ten sacks (first in the Big 12), 17 tackles for loss (fourth in the conference) and 55 total tackles. Those stats led to an All-Big 12 First-Team honor and the momentum needed to enter his name early in the NFL Draft.
Versatility, quickness and NFL-ready build stand as Brailford’s calling cards. At 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, Brailford can put his hand in the dirt as an end rusher or play linebacker as he did at Oklahoma State. Brailford’s unpolished edges, however, will keep him from rising into the first rounds.
Due to a redshirt and various injuries, Brailford missed most of his first two seasons. All that missed time has translated into concerns about his longevity – though he didn’t miss a game his final two seasons. Additionally, as The Draft Network’s Brady Kelly points out, Brailford “doesn’t utilize a variety of pass rush moves.”
Perhaps a project who could pop if given the proper time to mature and learn and develop effective pass rush techniques, Brailford would be a solid, low-risk mid- to late-round choice for a team in need of more depth at the pass rusher position.
