4. Kansas Jayhawks

Les Miles’ massive rebuild at Kansas begins in 2019 as the former LSU head coach takes over a program with empty cupboards. Miles’ first recruiting class with the Jayhawks got him off to a solid start, but it’s going to be a multi-year rebuild in Lawrence and his first Kansas team is likely to experience quite a few growing pains.

One of the ways to potentially accelerate that process and provide some year-one juice is to land an experienced graduate transfer quarterback who could in the very least bring a winning attitude to the table.

Hornibrook might have better options out there than Kansas, where the Jayhawks would face an uphill battle to garner bowl eligibility even with the Wisconsin transfer on board.

Rising senior Carter Stanley is the presumptive favorite to start next season, but he has shown little over his collegiate career to inspire confidence that he is the answer for Miles under center. JUCO transfer Thomas MacVittie, the No. 2 ranked junior-college pro-style quarterback according to the 247Sports Composite, was a big get for Miles during this last recruiting cycle, and he’s likely to have a strong chance at winning the job.

MacVittie is far from a proven product, however, and Hornibrook would likely have the inside track at securing the starting job for 2019 with his experience at the power-five level. He could provide an immediate boost to the Jayhawks, adding a high-profile name to Miles’ rebuild as he looks to alter the perception of Kansas football.
