3. Jonah Williams is still the draft’s top lineman

Alabama’s Jonah Williams has been one of the most scrutinized prospects in this year’s draft class. The All-American has looked like the draft’s top lineman all season long, but has slipped down some draft boards in recent weeks over concerns about him needing to slide inside to guard instead of playing tackle in the NFL.

His measurements this week did little to quell that noise, with his arm length coming in at 33 and 5/8 inches, which is a bit short for an NFL offensive tackle. Some notable NFL players quickly came to Williams’ defense.

To me, Williams is a Pro Bowl talent at either guard or tackle at the next level. He didn’t blow scouts away with his 40-time, bench press, or the agility testing, but he posted solid numbers across the board that, teamed with his tape, should be enough for him to hang on to his spot in the Top-10.

Williams was a dominant presence over his three years with the Crimson Tide, starting each of those seasons and dominating his man over-and-over again whether he was lined up on the right or left side. This incessant poking and prodding on him feels unnecessary given what he has shown throughout his career.

When it comes to him, I urge scouts and GM’s to not overthink it. Williams is the draft’s top offensive lineman. Flip on the tape and you’ll see why.
