NFL Draft: Top 10 small school prospects
By John Scimeca
9. Easton Stick, QB, North Dakota State
It would be difficult to compile this list without the star of North Dakota State’s dominant run over the past few seasons in quarterback Easton Stick. In the past two seasons, Stick has thrown for over 2,400 yards in each, including 28 touchdowns apiece, a completion rate of 62 percent or better, and TD to INT ratio of better than 4:1. In each of those seasons, he has rushed over 100 times for more than 660 yards.
It may be easy to make Carson Wentz comparisons after the former Bison star successfully led the Philadelphia Eagles before a series of untimely injuries, but Stick’s game is not exactly the same. For what NFL scouts may be looking for, Stick has been to the big stage and has delivered when it matters the most. Just look at January’s FCS title game: Stick threw for 198 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, while running for three scores and 121 yards off 18 carries.
Sure, NFL defenses will be much more difficult to scramble against, but Stick deserves his chance after a nearly unprecedented run of FCS dominance with the Bison.
