NFL Draft: Top 10 small school prospects
By John Scimeca
10. Jordan Brown, CB, South Dakota St.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound senior has size and upside, and showed off plenty of potential at the 2019 Senior Bowl. The Arizona native had eight interceptions during his career as a Jackrabbit, in which his team made it all the way to the FCS Semifinals before a 44-21 loss to eventual champion North Dakota St.
In Brown’s first 2018 game against the Bison (Week 4 of the regular season), the Jackrabbits held star quarterback Easton Stick to 9-of-20 passing for 182 yards in a close 21-17 loss. Brown’s size alone can catch enough attention from NFL teams, especially if he posts decent numbers at the NFL Combine.
Though his team’s only scheduled game over the past two seasons against FBS competition (2018’s Week 1 vs. Iowa State) was canceled due to lightning, Brown proved that he can compete with the best during the Senior Bowl game and practices. His pass coverage ability could certainly help any NFL team looking for a potential shutdown corner.
