2019 NFL Draft: 10 players trending up after NFL Combine
Oklahoma State running back Justice Hill’s combine was cut short due to injury, but he showed plenty during his time in Indianapolis to move himself up draft boards.
Hill was the combine’s top running back in the 40-yard dash and the vertical jump. He posted a 4.40 flat 40-time and a 40-inch vertical, putting his explosive athleticism on display. It’s unfortunate than an injury cut his day short, but he looked good enough in the drills he was able to participate in to put himself squarely in the day two mix after looking like a late round prospect.
The Oklahoma State product had a strong career in Stillwater, racking up 3500 yards on the ground during his three-year career. While he wasn’t always utilized as a receiver like he could have been, he flashed the potential to be a real difference-maker as a pass catcher out of the backfield.
If he can get healthy in time to do some on-field work at his pro day, then Hill could work his way up toward second round consideration.
Alabama’s Josh Jacobs has solidified his standing as the draft’s top running back prospect, but it’s wide open behind him. Iowa State’s David Montgomery and Florida Atlantic’s Devin Singletary seemed to have the inside track for the No. 2 spot, but neither was particularly impressive at the combine this week.
The door is open for another player to leap forward, and the Oklahoma State product took a big step forward with an impressive workout in Indianapolis.
