28. . CB. Washington. Byron Murphy. 27. player

After trading for Antonio Brown and signing Tyrell Williams to address their need at wide receiver, and signing LaMarcus Joyner to address their need at safety, the Raiders would probably be satisfied with taking the best player available on their draft board with their third and final first round selection.

Washington’s Byron Murphy would be incredible value this late in the first round with his potential to be an an All-Pro corner. Murphy is higher on some boards than Greedy Williams, and while he might still be a bit raw after departing college following his redshirt sophomore season in Seattle, he has the potential to blossom in the NFL.

Murphy shows excellent ball skills far beyond his years as a corner, and has great recovery speed, allowing him to never actually be out of a play even if a receiver beats him off the line-of-scrimmage.

The tape shows a fluid athlete at the position, and he backed that up with his positional drills at the combine. No corner looked more natural coming in and out of breaks than Murphy did in Indianapolis.

Oakland had one of the NFL’s worst defenses last season, and their secondary was a big part of the problem. While their inability to pressure quarterbacks certainly didn’t help matters, the Raiders ranked tied for last in the league in yards-per-pass allowed.

Murphy would be another piece to the puzzle of Oakland’s rebuild.
