2019 NFL Mock Draft: Odell Beckham trade throws first round into chaos
Florida’s Jawaan Taylor has leaped up draft boards and now appears to be the consensus top offensive tackle in the class, if for no other reason than he appears to be one of the only top prospects who looks like a sure-fire tackle at the next level.
The Jaguars made a big splash this offseason by signing Nick Foles, with the hopes that the former Super Bowl MVP can lift Jacksonville back to contention in the AFC after falling off hard in 2018. With Foles in the fold now, you have to think they’ll look at solidifying his protection and adding some weapons around him to boost their offense.
The Jaguars’ offensive line kind of fell apart last season after Cam Robinson tore his ACL and was lost for the season. With Robinson back in 2019, adding a bookend tackle on the other side of the line could provide the boost up front the Jags need to not only protect Foles, but to bolster their running game as well.
The Vikings proved that you are never really a quarterback away from the Super Bowl, but the Jaguars have a roster that is ready to compete again in the AFC, and it’s the reason they decided to spend the money on a veteran QB like Foles instead of focusing on selecting a quarterback in the draft this year.
Finding a No.1 option at wide receiver for Foles will be a consideration for Jacksonville as well, as they could pull the trigger on Ole Miss’ D.K. Metcalf or potentially even one of Iowa’s tight ends – T.J. Hockenson or Noah Fant. I’m guessing they’ll go offensive line with this pick, though, and look at a receiver with their early pick in the second round.
