. DE/OLB. Ohio State . Nick Bosa. 2. player. 42

The 49ers are the biggest beneficiary of Arizona’s decision to go with a quarterback. That leaves them with their choice of Ohio State edge-rusher Nick Bosa and Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. The team is evidently enamored with both, and they are doing their due-diligence with one-on-one interviews with both prospects.

The choice is tough, but it’s a great problem to have. Both Bosa and Williams should be instant difference-makers on the next level, helping to establish a defensive identity for San Francisco. I’d argue that the two are the most bust-proof draft prospects in this class. They’re as close to sure things as you can get.

Even after trading for Dee Ford, the consensus seems to be that the 49ers will lean on an edge rusher over a defensive tackle. They could team Bosa with Ford and then potentially trade DeForest Buckner, who had a breakthough season in 2018, and get a decent return back.

Bosa and Ford would immediately provide the team with feared bookends as they look to take a big step toward NFC West contention in 2019.

I imagine that this decision will come down to the 11th hour, though, with the organization jostling between the Ohio State and Alabama product until the last minute.
