52. . OT. Florida. Jawaan Taylor. 7. player

Florida’s Jawaan Taylor has been steadily rising up draft boards, and now appears to be the consensus top offensive tackle in this class. That doesn’t necessarily mean he will be the first tackle taken, though, as it all depends on who tops the draft boards of the teams picking. Taylor has an advantage over the others, though, in that he looks like one of only two sure-fire tackle prospects in the first round. The others might be forced to shift over to guard.

Jacksonville made a big splash this offseason by releasing Blake Bortles and then signing Nick Foles, hoping the former Super Bowl MVP can be the missing piece to get the Jaguars back into AFC contention after a year of wandering the wilderness. With Foles on board, I imagine the Jaguars will look at solidifying his protection up front as a high priority.

After Cam Robinson suffered a torn ACL in week two last season, Jacksonville’s offensive line fell apart. They struggled to protect the quarterback, and couldn’t open up running lanes for Leonard Fournette and company. Adding Taylor, and getting Robinson back healthy, would give the Jags a pair of talented bookend tackles to build their line around.

Jacksonville was long linked to a quarterback in this class, but with a talented roster that is just a year removed from an AFC Championship Game appearance, the organization wanted to take advantage of their current window by investing into a proven veteran quarterback instead of handing the reins over to an untested rookie.

Getting some receiving help is also likely to be a priority. They need to find a No. 1 WR option for Foles, and could also be enamored with a tight end like Iowa’s T.J. Hockenson. This is a deep draft of receivers, though, and I figure they can land a talented wideout with their early second round pick instead.
