UCF football claimed its second American Conference title in two years. For the second straight season, the Knights had an undefeated regular season.

For the second consecutive season, UCF claimed the top spot in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game. Additionally, the Knights secured an undefeated regular season for the second year in a row.

These masterful results are certainly a far cry from a few years back. The Knights climbed the ladder from a doldrum 0-12 record in 2015 to a mediocre 6-7 record in 2016 before ripping off 25 victories throughout the last two seasons.

While former head coach Scott Frost — now the lead man at Nebraska — was the architect behind one of college football’s most riveting turnarounds, Josh Heupel, who took over the helm of the program prior to the 2018 season, did an excellent job coaching the Knights in his rookie season.

The American Conference is perhaps written off because of its conglomerate composition of Group of 5 schools in an era of college football ruled by the Power 5 conferences.

However, the top teams in the conference have displayed a decent amount of firepower, thus making the game even more exciting to watch.

As spring football (and the weather) start to heat up in the Sunshine State, here are five storylines to follow in preparation for UCF’s 2019 campaign.
