2019 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rising in first round of NFL Draft

The 2019 NFL Draft is just weeks away, and plenty of teams are starting to ponder quarterback decisions. Which prospects will be selected on Day 1?

The quarterbacks in the 2019 NFL Draft aren’t by any means world-beaters, but playing the most important position on the field, sitting at the top of the class will have to suffice. For some franchises, anyway.

The Denver Broncos added veteran quarterback Joe Flacco via trade following the season. The Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars opted to dip into the free agent market for Ryan Fitzpatrick and Nick Foles, respectively. Additions like these essentially remove the possibility of drafting a quarterback in the first round, and instead suggest they’ll be looking for one down the road.

And while quarterbacks generally garner the headlines, the 2019 NFL Draft will be dominated by defense, and in particular, the defensive line. Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State each have multiple prospects in the front four that could be Day 1 picks. Even Michigan could squeeze a couple into the first round.

Unsurprisingly, a handful of players present great upside but have yet to reach anywhere close to their full potential. What happens with those prospects? If someone does gamble or take a flier on them, will it throw off the whole first round?
