2019 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rising in first round of NFL Draft
By Phil Poling
The Green Bay Packers have had an uncharacteristically noisy offseason. They’ve lost a few big-name players in free agency, but also added a few as well. And then there’s the reported feud between Aaron Rodgers and former head coach Mike McCarthy. Drafting an offensive lineman isn’t a sexy pick, but it sure wouldn’t cause any more distractions for the franchise.
Florida’s Jawaan Taylor is a big-bodied right tackle, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 312 pounds. His arm length (35 1/8) gives him a versatility the Packers could use up front, especially with the plethora of injuries they’ve suffered over the years.
One major concern Taylor’s dealt with since high school is staying at a competitive playing weight. According to NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein, Florida coaches gave Taylor a specific number he had to hit before even offering him a scholarship. He made the weight, and the rest is history.
