2019 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rising in first round of NFL Draft
By Phil Poling
Atlanta’s 7-9 campaign in 2018 was a disappointing one after back-to-back trips to the playoffs. But injecting a pass-rusher like Clemson’s Clelin Ferrell into the defense should give the unit an edge heading into 2019.
Ferrell improved upon his sack totals every season at Clemson, totaling 27 for his career. He also managed 50.5 tackles-for-loss in those three seasons, showing an ability to play the run as well as the pass.
Ferrell could give the Falcons great depth at defensive end, or cause a log-jam at the position, though. Two former first round picks, Vic Beasley (2015) and Takkarist McKinley (2017), hold down the positions now, but Ferrell could play his way onto the field.
