2019 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rising in first round of NFL Draft
By Phil Poling
Even without their starting quarterback for a portion of the 2018 season, Washington finished with a better record (7-9) than division rival New York (5-11). And while the Giants found their quarterback replacement early in this draft, the Redskins will look for their signal-caller of the future, too. Enter Duke’s Daniel Jones.
Jones stands tall in the pocket at 6-foot-5 and was a three-year starter at Duke. He compiled 52 touchdowns to just 29 interceptions for the Blue Devils, but was working with lesser teammates than most of the top quarterbacks.
The Redskins already met with 2019 NFL Draft prospect Drew Lock, and a sit-down with Jones could catapult him to the top of their draft board. With only Colt McCoy and Case Keenum healthy going into the draft, expect Washington to fill this need at either No. 15, or by trading back and nabbing someone there.
