2019 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rising in first round of NFL Draft
By Phil Poling
The third defensive player off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft is Ohio State’s Nick Bosa. Jon Gruden’s been searching for a pass rusher since he traded away Khalil Mack prior to the 2018 season, and with Bosa falling into his lap at No. 4, the Raiders fill a need and get one of the best prospects in the draft.
Bosa would be an immediate upgrade along the defensive line, in turn making the Oakland defense better as a unit. When quarterbacks are worried about the pass rush, bad things can happen – early throws, over-throws, taking sacks, missing check-downs. An elite pass rusher can alter the fate of an entire franchise.
With the pick by the Raiders, the AFC West will have two Bosa’s getting after quarterbacks – Nick, and his older brother, Joey. The Chargers made Joey the No. 4 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
