2019 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks rising in first round of NFL Draft
By Phil Poling
Have you read a single mock draft that didn’t project the Giants to take a quarterback with their first pick? Dwayne Haskins would be an excellent fit in New York alongside Saquon Barkley, even if he does have to wait for his opportunity.

The franchise seems invested in Eli Manning for some reason, most likely for his past accomplishments, but he’ll have an even steeper uphill climb in 2019 without Odell Beckham, Jr. A young quarterback like Haskins who can push the ball down the field would’ve been perfect for Beckham, but it’ll still be beneficial to the Giants.
As a first-year starter at Ohio State, Haskins led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten Championship and a Rose Bowl victory in 2018. The 6-foot-3 gunslinger also finished third in the Heisman voting after posting a 50-touchdown campaign.
There are plenty of other needs for New York, but without a franchise quarterback, it doesn’t really matter how the rest of your team stacks up. They do own another first round pick, No. 17 overall, so they’ll get another opportunity to bolster their roster in the first round.
