By Phil Poling
The Detroit Lions select LSU cornerback Greedy Williams with the 8th overall pick, adding a future No. 1 corner opposite their current No. 1 corner, Darius Slay.

Free agency saw the Lions add cornerback Rashaan Melvin and defensive end Trey Flowers, but that doesn’t mean addressing those positions in the draft is off the table. The 6-foot-2 Williams could be the No. 1 player on the Lions’ board, and if he falls to No. 8, it’d be easy to go best-player-available.
Hailing from LSU, expectations for Williams are high. Can he follow in the footsteps of former LSU greats Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu? LSU certainly didn’t earn the nickname “DBU” for nothing!
Adding Williams to the duo of Slay and Melvin gives the Lions a solid three-man group at cornerback. Williams projects to be an outside corner, giving Slay the flexibility to move around.
