West Virginia football unveiled new jerseys during its spring game. They also displayed a glimpse of the future with some impressive performances.

It was truly a treat to see WVU alumni Karl Joseph and Rasheed Marshall run out of the tunnel sporting the newest West Virginia uniforms at halftime on Saturday. If it weren’t for eligibility issues, Neal Brown would’ve surely welcomed both to come back and play this fall.

West Virginia football will be just fine without them, though.

Coach Brown began his post-game press conference thanking the fans for showing up early — and staying late — at the spring game. After that, he rattled off about a dozen players who impressed on the day.

He praised Stone Wolfley for his activeness on the defensive line. Cornerback Jordan Adams’ interception was highlighted, although Brown wasn’t happy with the immature penalty that followed, claiming he was, “glad [the refs] flagged it.”

Derrek Pitts is, according to the new head coach, “one of the most improved players this spring,” along with linebacker Shea Campbell. Keith Washington had a solid day that included an interception, one that likely would’ve gone for a touchdown if Brown hadn’t stopped play.

Colton McKivitz and Josh Sills continued to be the most consistent offensive lineman for the ‘Eers, while wide receivers Tevin Bush, Randy Fields, and Dillon Spalding all made plays that impressed the coaches, too.

Every player mentioned above did some encouraging things on the football field Saturday. There are plenty of improvements to be made, though. Who did the most for their stock during the Gold-Blue Game?
