NFL Draft 2019: 7-Round Mock Draft projections for every team
All the sudden, Cincinnati could be targeting a quarterback in the first round as Andy Dalton no longer looks to be the long-term solution at quarterback for the franchise. Dalton has two years left on his contract, which could allow a rookie quarterback to groom for a couple of years before taking over the reins.
If Dwayne Haskins is on the board, I think the Bengals would seriously consider taking him. If not, I’m not sure they would value Drew Lock or Daniel Jones over the opportunity to draft a difference maker at linebacker. I’m not sure if there’s a big enough gap between those two quarterbacks and potential available signal-callers on day two of the draft to warrant spending such a high selection on one of them.
With the team finally moving on from Vontaze Burfict, there is a hole in the middle of the defense, and Cincinnati would be thrilled if either Devin White or Devin Bush is still available here. While I think White is the superior prospect, I don’t think the gap is all that big. They are both remarkably similar players.
Bush is also undersized from your traditional linebacker, but he’s a phenomenal athlete with the speed to track sideline-to-sideline and hold up in coverage against the increasingly athletic tight ends.
An offensive lineman would also make sense, so the Bengals are likely to consider Jonah Williams and Cody Ford here as well.
