. CB. LSU. Greedy Williams . 20. player. 55

One of the toughest draft evaluations in this class is for Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson, who could legitimately be picked sometime in the first round or could slip all the way to the third round. With the Steelers coveting a rangy, athletic linebacker, and both Devin White and Devin Bush off the board, they could reach for Wilson here.

Pittsburgh has long prided themselves as an organization on not overreaching based on need, instead focusing on the best player available on their board. That’s unlikely to be Wilson here, and they would be wise to pass on him and hope that he’s still on the board when they pick in the second round, which is a strong possibility.

At this point, LSU’s Greedy Williams could easily be the top player on the board. The Steelers need a corner opposite Joe Haden, and Williams has the highest upside in this draft class. If Pittsburgh can get Williams to play with consistent effort, then he could be a shutdown corner in the NFL.

He has excellent ball skills, and while his interception numbers were down as a redshirt sophomore, it had more to do with other teams outright refusing to attack his side of the field in fear of a turnover than anything else.

Upgrades on defense make the most sense, but the Steelers might also feel compelled to grab a receiver to replace Antonio Brown after trading him to Oakland. Arizona State’s N’Keal Harry, Oklahoma’s Marquise Brown, and Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler would all be worthy of this selection.
