Scott Frost has been tapping into the potential of some of his seniors and other upperclassmen in a short period of time since taking over in Lincoln.

Another player to benefit from Frost taking over is senior defensive tackle Carlos Davis whose twin brother Khalil Davis will be starting alongside him at defensive end. Khalil had the better year of the two in 2018, but it was a bit surprising given the fact that Carlos took a step back, numbers-wise, compared to his 2017 stats.

In fact, he had 42 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks as a sophomore after breaking out for five tackles for loss and two sacks as a freshman. His junior season saw him record only 27 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack, but he did break up five passes.

After a strong spring, the defensive line is looking like one of the more solidified position groups on the team and he’ll be a big piece to the defensive puzzle.

Davis looked solid in the spring game and he’s one of those players who looks poised to take that next step.
