There was quite a bit of worry surrounding this unit, especially with Erik McCoy and Keaton Sutherland heading out of town for the NFL. Many were worried that this unit would be the group that will be the biggest liability for the Aggies in 2019. However, it doesn’t seem like that will be the case for Jimbo Fisher’s offense in the upcoming season.

Let’s start with new center Ryan McCollum. Before spring practice, this position was a question mark. Erik McCoy leaving threw this team for a loop. A great spring by McCollum though earned him offensive MVP and a sure spot on the starting line for 2019. It isn’t official that he starts at center and not guard where he was before hand, but it seems as if it is probable.

“I’m filling some really big shoes,” McCollum said after the spring football game. “I was trying to just step up to the plate and knock it out of the park. I don’t want to be as good as (McCoy). I want to be better than him.”

This team also has some strong guys to play in Luke Matthews, Colton Prater, Jared Hocker, Colten Blaton, Kellen Diesch, Barton Clement and Tank Jenkins and incoming five-star rated freshman prospect Kenyon Green. The depth and talent is there and new coach Josh Henson seems ready to go with this group of guys.
