NFL Mock Draft 2020: Way-too-early look at projected first round
The Jaguars need to surround Nick Foles with more talent at receiver, and that’s likely to be a focal point of their offseason next year if they don’t make any moves between now and then. Adding a receiver who can stretch the field, but is also dynamic with the ball in his hands could be a big boost for Jacksonville’s offense.
Colorado’s Laviska Shenault was an early season Heisman candidate in Boulder in 2018 before the bottom fell out of the Buffaloes’s season. He still eclipsed 1000 yards receiving and totaled 11 touchdowns (six receiving, five rushing). He was limited during the second half of the season with a turf toe, but he was among the nation’s best overall players before that.
A healthy Shenault is a big reason for optimism in Mel Tucker’s first season at Colorado.
Shenault might be a step below Jeudy, but he’s an outstanding receiver in his own right. Some pundits believe that Jeudy and Shenault are light-years better than any receiver from the 2019 class.
The Colorado product has good size at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, and is the kind of all-around versatile weapon that the Jaguars have sorely been lacking. He could also be a factor on special teams as a kick and punt returner.
