If the Chiefs win the Super Bowl next year it will be on the strength of Patrick Mahomes and the offense once again as I’m not sure they’ve done enough to improve defensively this offseason. They gave up their first round pick in this year’s class in order to trade for Seattle’s Frank Clark, who should be a nice addition but will be trying to replace the production of both Justin Houston and Dee Ford on the outside. ,
Kansas City needs a versatile, athletic linebacker in the middle, and while Reggie Ragland has been a solid player, I’m not sure he’s the long term answer for a team that should be contending for years to come. That could lead them to target a linebacker early in the 2020 class.
Northwestern’s Paddy Fisher is a tackling machine, with sideline-to-sideline speed. He’s produced over 100+ tackles in both of his seasons with the Wildcats, and has been an All Big Ten performer for two seasons in a row.
Fisher is your more traditional middle linebacker at 6-foot-4 and 241 pounds, but he’s still talented enough to be a first round pick. He needs some work when dropping back into coverage, but he’s a player who should immediately bolster the Chiefs’s run defense as a rookie.
