For the first time in years, Brian Herrien finds himself in a position to take control as the team’s backup running back.

In the two previous seasons, Herrien has had to sit behind pairs of 1,000-yard rushers in Sony Michel and Nick Chubb in 2018 and Elijah Holyfield and D’Andre Swift in 2018. Now that Holyfield is gone, it’s Herrien’s turn to shine, and he starting his ascent during the spring game.

Though there are rumors circulating his eligibility for 2019, he’s still listed on the roster and showed during the spring game that he may be one of the most improved players on the offensive side of the ball. He rushed just seven times for 25 yards but also had three receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. He touched the ball 10 times for 75 yards, showing his explosiveness.

There’s no doubt Herrien was the top performer for the Bulldogs during the spring game and as long as he’s still on the roster this fall, he should be a force to be reckoned with, splitting carries with Swift.
