The offense couldn’t get into the end zone during the spring game, but Austin Burton got them darn close with a 53-yard bomb to Jaylen Erwin and he was tackled at the 3-yard line.

The freshman quarterback made a nice push for the starting job this spring, leading all quarterbacks with 122 yards on 10-of-17 completions. Though he was the top performer under center during the spring game, he had just under 70 yards until the final drive of the game when he completed the 53-yarder.

UCLA needs someone like Burton to come out and push Dorian Thompson-Robinson for that starting job or the highly-touted sophomore will never improve. Luckily Burton did just that this spring and should head into summer with plenty of momentum.

While I believe Thompson-Robinson has the starting job in his possession, Burton did everything he could to make him sweat this spring.
