There probably wasn’t a player who had as impressive a day during the Volunteers’ spring game than junior linebacker Shanon Reid.

In his third season with Tennessee, the former four-star linebacker from Fort Myers, Fla., has bulked up and looks like the player everyone had hoped for when he committed back in the 2017 class. He no longer has the body of a defensive back, but rather he’s up to 230 pounds after getting to campus a couple of years ago at about 200 pounds.

Reid had just one tackle in seven appearances as an early enrollee freshman, appearing mainly on special teams and had five tackles in nine games as a sophomore. Now as a junior, he’s looking like a potential starter who could break out and finish in the top five on the team in tackles.

After the spring game, Reid looks like a breakout star.
