There has been a lot of hype for the Cornhuskers as they head into year two under head coach Scott Frost. The national championship-winning alumnus will try to take another critical step toward restoring Nebraska to their historical spot among college football powerhouses. That first step of 2019 could come with a spot in the final five of the preseason AP Top 25.

With Adrian Martinez back at quarterback after throwing for more than 2600 yards and rushing for an additional 600-plus yards, the Huskers offense looks like it will be in good shape this year. Stanley Morgan is gone from the receiving corps after a 1,004-yard season, but youngsters like Miles Jones, Kade Warner, and Todd Honas look prepared to step up in the passing game.

After the spring, there is a lot of hype around Nebraska’s defensive line. Racking up seven sacks in the spring game, the Huskers could resemble the legendary Blackshirts units of yesteryear. Big Ten East opponents will have their work cut out at the line of scrimmage against a group that includes a lot of veteran talent.

The big non-conference game this year is a trip to Boulder to face traditional rival Colorado. Other than that, neither South Alabama nor NIU are going to tip the College Football Playoff scales. Nebraska also has the advantage of getting to play Ohio State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Iowa all at home.
