5. Ole Miss starts the season 2-0

The 2019 season does not open kindly to the Ole Miss Rebels.

In the first game, the Rebels head north to face the Memphis Tigers and after that, the Rebels return home for an early-season SEC showdown with Arkansas. It may not normally seem like a bold prediction for a team to start 2-0 on its season, but in this case it is because there’s a high probability Ole Miss doesn’t even come out of Memphis with a victory.

Memphis is seen by many as the favorite to win the AAC, even over UCF. It also always plays its best game against Ole Miss — you can look no further than Memphis beating Ole Miss in 2015 when the Rebels had Chad Kelly, Evan Engram, Laquon Treadwell and many other Ole Miss greats.

Or if you really want to look further back, rewind to 2003 when Memphis beat the Eli Manning-led Rebels.

If Ole Miss wants to have a successful season, it most likely hinges on beating Memphis and for the sake of bold predictions, we’re gonna say that happens.

Next is Arkansas, a team with a lot of questions, much like Ole Miss. Arkansas has had Ole Miss’ number in recent seasons but the Rebels finally broke through and won last season. An early SEC matchup at home in Oxford favors the Rebels.

If Ole Miss can start 2-0, then it sets itself up for a run at bowl eligibility.
