At one point in time, Dominic Davis was an explosive running back, just waiting for his turn in the Trojan backfield. He’s one of the fastest players on the team and he could have had an impact on the offensive side of the ball, but he made the move to cornerback which could get him on the field sooner.

Davis took advantage of other guys injured this spring, making a move up the depth chart and putting himself in position to contend for a starting spot when the season kicks off.

It’s hard to believe that he was once one of the best running backs in his recruiting class and still averaged over 5.0 yards per carry at the position throughout his career and he’s being forced to move to the defensive side of the ball, but that could benefit him with one year left at USC.

The senior cornerback even shined during the spring game, making the biggest defensive play of the afternoon, stripping receiver Devon Williams and returning the fumble for a touchdown. If he can be that explosive and opportunistic in 2019, he could become a star.
