Alabama Football: 5 reasons the Tide will contend 2019 national title
By Dakota Cox
1. Nick Saban
This one should be pretty obvious. Any team that has the best coach in the sport will be competing for a title when the season is over. This is especially true in college football, where Nick Saban is leaps and bounds ahead of every other coach in the nation.
There are a few things that every team has to do in order to compete for rings, and Saban does all of them well. In terms of recruiting, the Tide just got one of the most talented recruiting classes in the Saban Era that fills needs on defensive line and linebacker. They also need to have intelligence in coaching, and Saban clearly checks that box.
Possibly Saban’s biggest asset is The Process. Saban’s players buy into the program and what it takes to win. That’s why Alabama has won a championship the year after they failed to the past two times they haven’t won.
If Alabama buys into their head coach, they will be incredibly successful this season. They have the talent on offense, some key players returning on defense, the easy path to the College Football Playoff, and the greatest coach of all time in their corner.
We aren’t close to the postseason, but there shouldn’t be any concern about the Tide’s ability to recover from their loss to Clemson last year as they get ready for 2019. Things haven’t been down in a long time for Alabama football, and it won’t start in 2019.
