4. Player names

In an attempt to circumvent the laws regarding team likeness and image, EA Sports managed to create a lot of video games without officially using a player’s name. Instead of playing as Tua Tagovailoa, you would play as QB No. 13 for Alabama.

Of course, this can get frustrating for both the players and the fans. Players were not getting paid despite being in the game, and fans were being forced to remember the numbers of practically every player on every team. It might seem like a small thing, but it was incredibly annoying.

If NCAA Football ever comes back, the company that makes it will be paying for the right to use player’s name and image. That means that if you are playing as Alabama, you will see Tua Tagovailoa complete passes to Jerry Jeudy. It’s a little thing, but it makes the game better.

The technology has also improved since the last college football video game, so I would assume that the graphics would improve drastically. Since the creators don’t have to beat around the bush in terms of looking like players, they can actually make the game look more like Madden in terms of the accuracy of the avatars.

It’s what would have slowly happened if we had continued to get college football video games, but the drastic change from NCAA Football 14 to NCAA Football 20/21 would be insane.
