College Football: 5 receivers who could win 2019 Heisman Trophy
By Dakota Cox
Tylan Wallace might not be a name that everyone recognizes, but he is still a star at the college level. I guarantee you that Oklahoma State fans know how he is.
Wallace has the strength to make those highlight catches that make highlight reels. Once he has the ball in his hands, his speed and jukes are too much for Big 12 defenses to handle. It’s always obvious that he is the best player on the field.
Last season, Wallace had nearly 1,500 receiving yards on 86 catches. His numbers were just insane. Outside of the quarterback position, this offense will basically be running back last year’s team. This is helpful, but a portion of Tylan Wallace’s success will come down to replacing Taylor Cornelius.
Whoever ends up starting at quarterback, Wallace will instantly become their best friend. There’s nothing better for a new quarterback than a receiver that can always get open and make the play.
Assuming Oklahoma State finds a competent quarterback, Wallace will have the stats to deserve consideration for the Heisman Trophy. The biggest question will be whether or not he gets the recognition in the media. The media controls the narrative for trophies like the Heisman, and that can help determine the finalists just as much as the votes do.
